Gary Stevens, Managing Director of SEL Engineering Ltd.
Gary has been in the engineering field for over 40 years. Starting out quite young building his own moto-x bike and going to a trade school in the Netherlands at the age of 12.
He started working for companies like Heineken breweries in 1975, building all new bottling machinery. Then, with a Dutch Shipbuilder, Rijn-Schelde Verolme, and finally for one and a half years in the north sea on oil rigs as a rough neck.
In 1982 Gary moved to NZ and followed his experience with Heineken to overhaul and rebuild bottling plant machinery here. From this, he started branching out to production engineering manufacturing, producing hydraulic door closers, and light manufacturing. In this capacity he became workshop manager, in charge of 20+ men.
Finally, in 1997 Gary decided to branch out on his own, starting SEL Engineering as production engineering manufacturer. Building a solid reputation with several large manufacturing firms here in the Auckland area.
Gary now manages 40 presses, ranging from 1 to 100 ton. Supplying a broad range of industries from Lighting, Roofing, Electrical, Fencing and Ducting, just to name a few, but there are many more.
As well as supplying various industries, Gary has produced a range of his own products, which are sold both throughout New Zealand, and Internationally.
Rest assured, he will strive to produce a quality product, whether your company is big, or small.
